[MARY]  (download monologue)
African-American , Female, mid-late 60s.  When Mary lost her leg in an accident, the Y was there for her with exercise facilities and classes that helped her rehabilitate and stay healthy.  When her husband died, she was supported by the great community of friends she made at the Y.  Mary is a vibrant, outgoing and strong woman. REAL AMPUTEE A HUGE PLUS.

Caucasian Female, 40s, Lesbian.  Abby and her wife, have two young kids and live in  Alabama. They were looking for a place where the Moms could work out and the kids could have good day care, swimming facilities etc. It was important to them to find a place that would fully accept them as a family. They found this at the Y. The Moms and their kids love it and the staff has been
welcoming.

Hispanic / Latino Male, 17.  Adrian had an incredibly hard childhood, growing up poor with an abusive stepfather. He was separated from his mother and siblings when placed in foster care. In high school, he joined the Y Teen Achiever program which offered tutoring, study hall and free gym memberships at the local YMCA. The college and career readiness program helped Angel move up from a 1.9 GPA to a 3.5 GPA. Now, he is back with his mom and siblings and currently looking at colleges.

Asian Male, mid 50s.  Lini was helped by the YMCA Peer Health Leadership Program where members of his community, who have become “Community Health Ambassadors” inform and provide information on the program’s services. This includes community based trauma education programs, a mobile clinic, health and wellness classes, behavioral health clinicians and registered nurses.

South Asian Male, 30s. A Father of two kids.  Has his kids enrolled in the Young Philanthropists program at the YMCA.  Is proud of how his kids are learning to be volunteers and understanding the importance of charity and helping others.
